If there’s one thing that people look for, it’s the “quick fix.”

  • What’s the quickest way to lose 5 pounds?
  • What’s the fastest way to stop my back pain?
  • How can I make more money faster?

Now, it’s easy to say, “More people now know that the quick fix isn’t the best answer.” But it’s difficult to go against how human beings are hard-wired, especially when finding ways to enjoy Disney all day without the burnout.

Here’s what I mean.

Historically, Humans Needed Quick Fixes in Order to Survive

Think back to the classic attraction Spaceship Earth at EPCOT.

You know, the first scene with our ancestors in the brutal snow working together to hunt for food and survive. Back then, coming up with a quick fix provided two evolutionary advantages:

  1. To not die, and
  2. To create their next-of-kin, and ensure human survival.

And, biologically speaking, because we came from that prehistoric human, our brains today are hard-wired to reach for the easiest, most immediately effective answer to a problem instead of automatically considering a long-term solution.

However, our environment is very different now.

Today, We Have an Abundance of Prosperity

We also have an abundance of information.

Thanks to the development of smartphones, social media, artificial intelligence, and the like, the amount of information on the internet doubles every two years. This has only increased the demand for more, quicker.

So what can you do about it?

Start by Taking a Deep Breath

The next time you instinctively look for a quick fix, take a deep breath.

Then take a step back and ask yourself, “In the end, does a quick fix leave me worse off than when I started?” If you remove the short-term perspective and instead opt for a long-term view, you might notice how

  • The quickest way to lose 5 pounds without changing your habits likely means you’ll gain back that weight and more
  • The fastest way to stop back pain without changing your habits and perspective likely means your back pain will come back even faster
  • The quickest way to make more money without putting in the time and work to build effective systems likely means you’ll lose it all as quickly as you gained it
  • The quickest way to walk all day at Disney without burnout might not actually help you in the end

The “quick fix” doesn’t solve a long-term problem.

What I’m Saying is: Play the Long Game

Whether it’s losing weight, getting rid of low back pain, making more money, or having a pain-free Disney vacation without burnout, the long-term solution is the answer to 99% of your problems.

Start with going for longer walks. When you feel ready, join my 30-Day Disney Walking Challenge. Spend more time standing every day.

Then, work on a nightly and morning routine to optimize your body’s ability to recover, boost your energy levels, lower your mental fatigue, and lower your stress levels.

Want extra credit? Work on a strengthening program to build your body’s resiliency. That way, your body will be even stronger to conquer the Disney parks.

Start small, build habits that last, and you’ll feel stronger, have more energy, and have much less pain when you visit Disney.

As Darren Hardy wrote, “Small, smart choices + consistency + time = RADICAL DIFFERENCE.”
